OptimizeGoogle now verified and generally available
December 22, 2009 | In: General news
Today the folks at Mozilla officially verified our add-on and have removed the “experimental” tag. This means OG is now generally available to everybody!
Thanks to all the people who have and still report bugs and improvements. And of course the biggest credit goes to Glen who has taken on the OG project to keep this wonderful add-on alive. Well done and keep up the excellent work!

That’s great news but look at those bugs.
I personally stopped using optimezegoogle and I turn my attention to some scripts for auto load next pages etc.

Glen is looking at fixing them asap. If you want to volenteer to help speed things up, let me know. We could use a few helping hands so things can go faster.

Thank you so very much for continuing when CustomizeGoogle was left unmaintained. OptimizeGoogle is a superb extension, really a must. I have installed it on my own computer, family and friend’s computers. Thank you!

Bug: No alternative image search engines if you’re using Google.com.
This addon should be updated regularly otherwise there was no sense to fork.

Thank you!. I have been using since CustomizeGoogle has not updated it same name Add-On for Firefox 3.6.
My only request is to eliminate (maybe fix) Gmail ads when viewing an email since after selecting no ads in the settings I still get the sponsored links/ads. I was accustomed of not seeing these ads with CustomizeGoogle. Thanks again.

Just a fyi. The option for switching to SSL for Gmail could be removed now that it’s done automatically.

Hi,
I’m using FF 3.6 with a bunch of addons including this one.
BUT I cannot change or even see the options available on the OptimizeGoogle options panel.
When I hit the Options button, the panel pops up, but none of the actual options are visible.
What’s the problem?
Thanks -

Looks like OptimizeGoogle has become abandonware. It doesn’t work for months now and it’s not updated anymore. Oh, the irony.

Abandonware? That is news to me! Indeed we have not released an update every week. The issue re. image search is being fixed as we speak and then we will release 0.78.

Looking forward to 0.78.
Hiding the ads in Gmail and hiding invite friends doesn’t work anymore…
I’m using 0.77 and FF 3.6

Thanks very much for taking this over. It’s strange how frustrating things become when something you never needed before suddenly becomes essential when it stops working.
Looking forward to 0.78

It seems that plugin is abandoned again. I’m afraid google pays for it…

It is not abandoned, we have just not been able to get the complete team together atm. There is still work being done and the 0.78 version is still in the plan.
